Norman Network Protection gives Stokvis Tapes a complete grip on data security

“We can monitor the system ourselves and we get clear signals when Norman Network Protection captures spyware and malware in our network. There have already been a number of occasions when Norman has stopped potential attackers.”
Joachim Westman, IT Manager of Stokvis Tapes

Stokvis Tapes has a 50 year history of selling effective tape solutions. The company sells both tailor made and standard tapes to industry and to selected resellers. Manufacture and sales is now hanled by 23 companies all over the world.

All these sister companies and their computer networks must be coordinated and interconnected in a complex architecture, which places very stringent requirements on the company’s security solution. In total, several hundred users must be able to reach services such as the sales and business intelligence system via the network. Most of the users are internal within the sister companies, but some users are external consultants. Stokvis Tapes therefore needs to ensure that the external consultants’ data traffic is also controlled, as Joachim Westman, IT manager of Stokvis Tapes explains:

“When it comes to external people working with our company’s most critical systems, such as our business intelligence system, we must be able to control them. We are talking about people who usually have very high access rights, so if they should happen to introduce dangerous code the result could be devastating. With Norman Network Protection we now have this control,” he says.

That the choice was Norman Network Protection, from the security company Norman, was natural, believes Joachim Westman. Norman Network Protection stood out among its few competitors, not least because Norman Network Protection takes significantly more protocols for analysis than any alternative can offer. Stokvis Tapes has been running Norman Network Protection for almost a year and it has worked very well right from the beginning, according to Westman. The system was installed and running in just a few hours.

Now Norman Network Protection monitors all traffic and logs who is putting which data where. It is completely self-updating and requires no administration other than an occasional inspection.

Damaging code is found and eliminated with Norman’s advanced security technologies Norman SandBox® and DNA Matching. It is also possible to send code to Norman’s laboratory for in-depth analysis if there should be any particular suspicion of damaging code, an opportunity that Joachim Westman has also made use of.

“It was shown that there was no danger on that occasion, but it was valuable to be able to have that confirmed.”
