Norman Announces Executive Changes

Stein Surlien Named President & CEO; Haavard Nord Named Chairman Effective 1 December

Oslo, Norway – 15 November, 2011 – Norman ASA board of directors today announced that Stein Surlien, Chairman, has been named President & CEO. Haavard Nord will become the company’s new Chairman effective 1 December, 2011.
Surlien replaces Torgny Gunnarsson who has left to pursue other business opportunities.

Most recently Surlien was Senior Vice President, Alliances and Channels, Oracle EMEA. In this role, Surlien had overall responsibility for all elements of Oracle’s partner program in the region. Prior to taking the EMEA alliances and channels role, Surlien managed Oracle Norway as the Country Managing Director for six years.

Over the past few months Norman has implemented a restructuring and reorganization of its business, focusing on three major areas in data security, including endpoint security, network malware detection and malware analysis. It has implemented a refresh of all its major product categories.

“The security market is moving fast beyond the traditional antivirus business and Norman is becoming well positioned with its new organizational structure and product focus to meet the emerging needs of customers and markets,” Surlien said.

Before joining Oracle, Mr. Surlien worked as Managing Director for Santech Micro Group in Norway. Between 1983 and 1996, he worked at Hewlett-Packard, including the position of Managing Director of HP Sweden.

Mr. Surlien holds a Bachelor Degree of Science in Electrical Engineering, Cum Laude from the University of Utah. He has also studied at London Business School, Harvard University, Solstrand Management Institute (Norway), and the IFL Institute of Finance and Accounting (Sweden).
