Norman Security Suite offers different combinations of the products Virus & Spyware Protection, Personal Firewall and Parental Control in a brand new user interface. Depending on which Norman product(s) that is currently installed on your computer, Norman Virus Control or Norman Internet Control, the upgrade to Norman Security Suite will require 1-3 restarts of your computer.
Upgrading to Norman Security Suite is a semi-automatic process in three steps:
When you accept to upgrade to Norman Security Suite, Internet Update will automatically download the new version to your computer. The download size of the update is between 19 and 25 megabyte, depending which Norman product you are upgrading. Download time will depend on the speed of your Internet connection.
The installation process will take place automatically in the background. The Program Manager will pop up and tell you when a computer restart is necessary to continue/complete the update. Do not restart the computer until the program instructs you to or turn off the computer during the update process. The installation will complete in about 10 minutes.
Norman Virus & Spyware Protection, formerly known as Norman Virus Control, will be installed with default settings, and thus not convert user defined configuration from previous versions. Therefore, it might be a good idea to make notes of your current configuration before doing the upgrade.
The upgrade of Norman Personal Firewall will lead you through a wizard to configure basic rules for the firewall. One of the steps in the wizards also covers conversion of outgoing traffic rules from previous versions of the firewall.
Norman Parental Control in Norman Security Suite is completely different from earlier versions. Users of this product therefore have to install and configure it from the Norman Security Suite console after the upgrade.
Please refer to the USER GUIDE for more information about Norman Security Suite.
A special webcast is also available that decribes the updating in more detail (note that you need to have flash enabled in your browser and speakers attached to your computer).
