Problem description

Some customers have reported various network problems after installation of Norman Endpoint Protection. Problems reported are:

- No or slow network access
- Problems connecting to dabases
- Problems connecting to servers
- Problems with VPN clients

Problem solution

The problem is related to the Norman Security Driver (nnetsec.sys). The main task for this driver is passive discovery of network devices. It listens to network traffic, and reports back all network devices it recieves traffic from to the NEM console. As a temporary workaround you can deactive the driver on the network card

How to deactivate the driver

  1. Open Control Panel and navigate to Network Connections
  2. Right click on the network card and choose Properties
  3. Remove the checkmark by Norman Network Security
